HELP STATE LEGISLATORS DESIGN A BLUEPRINT FOR MONTANA'S ENERGY FUTURE

Senate Bill 290, approved by the 2009 Legislature, requires the Energy and Telecommunications
Interim Committee to revise the current state
energy policy. To assist the committee in
developing a new policy, the ETIC is seeking input from stakeholders, the public, and the appropriate state agencies on the following three topics:

Rebuilding and extending transmission lines;
Integrating wind energy;
Maximizing state land use for energy generation.

Members would like to hear about specific changes in state law that are needed in these areas, as well as your thoughts on potential findings and recommendations on these three subjects.

Please send your comments on the three issues noted above, before September 1, via email to snowakowski@mt.gov or via regular mail to Legislative Services Division, Attn. Sonja Nowakowski, P.O. Box 201704, Helena, MT 59620-1704. Please put "Energy Policy" in the subject line. Comments will be compiled and shared with the committee prior to the ETIC's September 24th meeting.

Over the next nine months, the committee will be posting their new topic agendas as well as a request for additional public comment available under the "Energy Policy" link www.leg.mt.gov/etic.
